By the end of that night I knew I would buying at least the minimum level tomorrow. It was late in the day so I decided to watch a ton of videos and play tomorrow.

Last week I "discovered" Hitfilm and pretty immediately felt like this was what I was looking for. I wont get into specifics about that, but I tried most of the common free or trial software. Over the past month I've been exploring different film software. This is all very new to me but I'm super happy with it. I am just getting into vfx and video this past week so I can make a decent music video for my band.

Oh and if you upgrade to pro later on you'll get a discount based on the addons you've already purchased (at least they used to do that). I'd suggest figuring out what you really need, figuring out which pack contain that functionality and just buy those. If I were buying addons now I'd definitely get the "Audio Tool Kit" for the compressor and noise reduction alone (I still use Audacity for both and it's a pain). There are others that were probably a waste of money but what maybe $35 total. So I can do LUTS if I want, I learned what they were and how they worked, it was like $15 and I never use it (but I can if I want). One of them (they've change what is in what "addon") was also a LUTS pack. The spectrum analyser is the real deal for color correction, and the denoiser in the visual repair pack has saved my ass many times, also fixed rolling shutter issues, etc. I got must have stuff like Premium Formats so I could use a good cine35 camera and use AVCHD, color scopes, and gunfire (formerly destruction pack) since I was making a short about a hitman.

I still use 2017 Express and when I started using it, and learning how to edit, I bought a bunch (they were called "packs" then). Have you ever paid for any of the "addons"? Having said that, if you ignore the editor, HitFilm is still a powerful, stand-alone compositing and VFX package – at a very attractive price of £229.I just looked up the "differences page" and wow, you weren't kidding, it fucking sucks. The editing facilities aren’t strong enough to cut even a short-form production, so not having this workflow integration limits the use of the timeline.

There is no way to import or export sequences from/to other software packages – there is no support for AAF, XML or even an old-fashioned EDL.

Unfortunately, however, Hitfilm is let down by one, serious limitation. HitFilm is fast – using your graphics card for image processing wherever possible – and seems to be very stable. Version 3 now has camera projection, OpenEXR and OpenFX support, and HitFilm’s effects are now installed as plug-ins for your NLE – if you use Adobe (AE and PP), FCP X (and Motion) or Sony Vegas.Īll this is wrapped up in a surprisingly intuitive user interface. There are 3D muzzle flash simulations, procedural fire, layer shattering and atomic particles from 3D models, colour correction, and 2D and 3D tracking with Mocha built in.

#HITFILM PRO FULL#

There is a full 3D model import and rendering engine, 3D lights and cameras, lens flare, a very capable, physics-based 3D particle simulator (with collision deflectors, gravity and even the ability to modify parameters based on music tracks). Hitfilm’s effects paradigm is layer based – like After Effects – rather than node based like the other three. Perhaps an off-the-wall alternative to Smoke, Nuke and Fusion is HitFilm (Now in its third release, Hitfilm is a surprisingly capable 3D compositing and VFX solution – with the added benefit of editing facilities. HitFilm Pro 3’s Editor, unfortunately not that usable.
